Dexamethasone 2mg/ml Injection

Dexamethasone is indicated for use in situations in which a rapid adrenal glucocorticoid and or anti-inflammatory effect is indicated.

For intravenous use in horses only.The usual intravenous dosage is 2.5 to 5 mg as the initial dosage in shock and shock-like states followed by equal maintenance doses at 1-, 3-, 6- or 10-hour intervals as determined by the condition of the patient. If a permanent corticosteroid effect is required, oral therapy with dexamethasone tablets may be substituted. When therapy is to be withdrawn after prolonged corticosteroid administration, the daily dose should be reduced gradually over a number of days, in a stepwise fashion.
