Vitaflor 365 optimises the intestinal flora, thus allowing the maximum yield from the feed to be obtained. Numerous factors disturb the intestinal balance such as stress, specific medications, concentrated feed etc. Domesticated horses receive a diet composed largely of gain, which has a high starch content. Often, the small intestine cannot completely process the digestion of starch, causing a part to be pushed into the colon. There, the starch is converted to lactate. This leads to acidification of the colon, inhibiting the proper functioning of the micro organisms which results in bad digestion of roughage, reduced absorption of nutrients, lowered digestion of proteins, etc. This leads to lowered resistance, reduced fitness and/or a colic susceptibility.
