Prednisone a corticosteroid drug with predominantly glucocorticoid and low mineralocorticoid activity. It is taken orally and is intended to treat conditions much like other anti-inflammatory steroids. Some of the problems it treats are skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis, allergic reactions such as hives and asthma, inflammatory eye conditions, otitis externa, arthritis and bursitis, ulcerative colitis and nephrosis.
Prescription Drug policy: Prescription drugs can only be shipped upon receipt of an original script from a licensed veterinarian. FarmVet.com can accept an original prescription in one of the following ways: 1) the original prescription may be mailed to: 1041 Sneed Road, Franklin, TN 37204 2) A licensed veterinarian may fax the prescription to 615-574-6057. The fax must originate from the veterinarians office 3) A licensed veterinarian can call your prescription into the pharmacy 615-277-5602. Voicemail is acceptable. Prescriptions are refillable, if indicated by your vet, for up to one year from the original date. At the end of one year prescriptions must be updated. Written prescriptions must include the veterinarian's license number, telephone number, and address. Federal (U.S.A.) law restricts the use of Rx drugs to use by, or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. Prescription drug forms available upon request.
Some of the side effects that could occur during the usage of prednisolone include weight loss, loss of appetite, increased thirst and urination, vomiting, diarrhea, and Cushing's syndrome (only when for a prolonged period of time).
