Description

Sucralfate is a prescription drug indicated as an ulcer treatment for horses. Sucralfate is most effective in treating ulcers affecting the glandular part of the stomach. Sucralfate appears to provide significant pain relief in horses that show abdominal pain due to ulcers. Since ulcers in foals and adult horses often involve the non-glandular part of the stomach, or the squamous areas, a veterinarian's diagnosis is important.
