Description

Fura-Zone is a topical antibacterial ointment formulated to prevent and treat surface bacterial infections in horses. Containing 0.2% nitrofurazone in a water-soluble base, this ointment effectively combats infections in wounds, burns, and cutaneous ulcers. Its broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity ensures protection against a wide range of bacteria, promoting faster healing and reducing the risk of complications. The water-soluble formulation allows for easy application and removal, enhancing convenience during wound management. To use, apply Fura-Zone directly to the affected area or on a piece of gauze, ensuring continuous contact with the lesion for at least 24 hours.

Administer

Apply directly onto the lesion with a spatula or first place on a piece of gauze. The application of a bandage is optional. The preparation should be in contact with the lesion for at least 24 hours. The dressing may be changed several time a day or left on the lesion for a longer period.

Caution

In case of deep or puncture wounds or serious burns, use only as recommended by a veterinarian. If redness, irritation, or swelling persists or increases, discontinue use; reconsult vet. Avoid exposure to alkaline material and fluorescent lighting.

Carcinogenesis: Nitrofurazone, the active ingredient of Fura-Zone ointment has been shown to produce mammary tumors in rats and ovarian tumors in mice. Some people may be hypersensitive to this product. Either wear gloves when applying or wash hands after use.
