Omeprazole/Cimetidine Oral Suspension is a combination compound used to treat and prevent gastric ulcers in horses. Omeprazole and Cimetidine are both used to treat gastric ulcers, but they work in two different ways. 

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that inhibits the production of acid in the stomach by reducing the amount of acid made by the glands in the lining of the stomach. Cimetidine blocks a specific histamine receptor which decreases the acid production in the stomach. Studies show advantages to using them together in this unique combination.
