Description

Adequan® I.M. (100 mg/5 mL) for Equine is a prescription medication recommended for intramuscular use that is used in the treatment of arthritis, degenerative joint disease (not caused by infections), or joint injury with associated lameness. Adequan I.M. restores synovial fluid, stimulates cartilage repair, and decreases inflammation and joint pain. Adequan I.M. is Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan and should be injected intramuscularly.

Details

Adequan® I.M. for Equine (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan) is the only FDA-approved treatment proven to relieve symptoms of non-infectious degenerative osteoarthritis, to stimulate cartilage repair and reverse the joint disease process. There is no generic version of Adequan® I.M. 

Contains 500mg of Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan for every dose. The recommended dose is 5ml every 4 days. Use for 28 days. 

Administer

Inject 500 mg (5ml) intramuscularly every 4 days for 7 injections. Use for 28 total days.

Prescriptions are non-refundable. Prescriptions are refillable if indicated by your vet, for up to one year from the original date. At the end of one year, prescriptions must be updated. Written prescriptions must include the veterinarian's license number, telephone number, and address. Federal law restricts the use of Rx drugs to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

The Adequan Rebate Offer Terms:

  • Horse owners may receive a $20 rebate with purchase of either one (1) 7-dose boxORone (1) 50mL vial of Adequan i.m.
  • Promotion Period:March 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025.

Caution

Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. Do not mix with other drugs or solutions. Do not give your horse Adequan® I.M. if they are pregnant or lactating. Consult your veterinarian before use if your horse has liver or kidney disease, blood clotting or coagulation disorders. Keep out of reach of pets or children. Do not use in horses intended for human consumption. Not for use in humans. 

If an allergic reaction occurs after treating your horse with Adequan, stop treatment and seek emergency veterinary help.

I have been using Adequan on my gelding for ring bone for 12 years and he is perfectly wound. Also use it on horses that are in the late 20's to keep them comfortable. Excellent Product.

Adequan has worked in cases of upper ringbone and several of our older horses. I highly recommend it. By giving an injection nothing is waisted and your horse receives all of the benefits.

A must for performance horses!

I start all my performance horses on this when they begin work and keep them on it for their entire working life. I am able to reduce how soon horses require joint injections as well as the frequency with Adequan.
